A leaf spring is an elastic element widely used in automotive suspension. It is often used in freight cars/buses with high load-bearing requirements. It has a very simple structure, which is a number of elastic steel plates stacked on top of each other and hung on the frame of the car. Independent suspension and non-independent suspension
Generally speaking, depending on the structure, the suspension system of a car can be divided into two types: independent suspension and non-independent suspension.
Independent suspension
MacPherson independent suspension
MacPherson independent suspension is one of the popular independent suspensions, which is generally used for the front wheels of a car. Multi-link Independent Suspension

This independent suspension system also performs well in current suspension designs, but, of course, at a higher cost. The positioning of the wheels can be adjusted automatically and can be controlled.

Torsion beams are widely used for non-independent suspensions. From the Honda Fit in Japan to the Volkswagen Golf in Germany, from the Hyundai in Korea to the Buick Insignia in the United States, all are equipped with torsion beams. The advantage of this type of suspension is its simple structure and small size, which helps to expand the rear space of the vehicle. In addition, the low cost makes it small in size and fixed to lower family cars.
